Blog Bless America!

Since a few weeks, I'm a citizen of America...A visitor shall I say. Innocent of any plans to immigrate, as they say here, 'till proven guilty. This can be a window of my days in this country, what I do, what I see...

BrokeCat Mountain

We finally decided to go to see BrokeBack Mountain, and although that's not a very funny movie, we're happy we did; It's a very fine and moving picture (literally actually, it moves...) without a hint of melo, seems very true and makes you glad, if you're gay, to live in an era where you can be pretty free of your sexual "choices". This story takes place in the 60's Wyoming and depict the lives of two young cowboys and their love life, has hard and hidden that can be. Really beautiful and somewhat sexy (I leave out the sassy details, you ough to see the movie for yourself :) ).
Having said that, one can challenge for the fact that this story depict a very sad and miserable side of a gay life; in this 20 years story line, very few are the moments of shared joy and sexual conyempt, and they are often mixed with the violence of the two young men, faced with their sexual identity. This has been an endless theme since Hollywood started to show homosexual behaviour in pictures. How can we not think that the hidden message to the viewers is that, being gay equals being unhappy and tortured, living a shadow of social life and likely to be discovered and punished for his "un-natural" attraction; Although, the movie bring us a choice, at the very end, car crash or gay bashing... You also can find questioning the choice of the victim; Either way, the one ending up dead, is the one of the two who've chosen to live his fantasies, if not openly, at least on a regular basis, dating married men or multiple trips to encounter men hookers to the Mexican border...

Here's a little humourous clip, totally in the spirit of that movie, just click on the link BrokeCat Mountain

Also, for the good readers, as intended for the REALLY GOOD "English" readers, because this is written in the midwest cowboy language, the novelist Annie Proulx wrote an opus of several stories, where the original text of Brokeback Mountain can be found. The other novels are also truly fascinating, as real and down to earth as can be. A real experience of the american folk litterature.

Quite a ferocious cartoon from the New Yorker, this week edition...A picture is worth a thousand words...

Here's a paper found on site, they left it when rushing away from a brown bear...

The end of a Perfect day...

The sky was on fire that evening, in a good way. Possibly, like this fascinating painting, from Edvard Munch The Scream , but in a more heavenly way. My baby knows me well, and he called me when he saw the orange, gold and blue of that sky. I grabbed my faithfull little camera, and here I was, clicks after clicks...Click,click...You probably need less clicks than that to capture a pretty scene like that, but I might be a lousy photograph (No, you don't need to comment on this, thank you very much). Miami is one of these places where life seems to be calm and sereine, of course a very crazy life is out there, few hundreds yards away, in the very attractive Ocean Drive, in South Beach Miami...

This is so cute, I became stepfather at 42!
Swimming like a lady, that she is actually, Holly, my baby's baby...Very keen on the tennis ball catching, jumping, grabbing, chewing and other dogs delights. Insasatiable is, I beleive, the correct term; She can spend a much as...actually, the human resistance is the only limit to her play, and you'd got a "tennis elbow" before she got tired. We recently discover that she's a very proper dog, well trained and educated; Indeed, she does her poopie doop inside the neighbour's garden, and he noticed, strangely. Few words of excuses and a quick clean up did the trick and nowadays, we do not check behind the fence, in case of a sequel...

On South Beach, a little family was playing shadows with the downing sun; Florida has such lovely colours when the sun sets. As many as other seaside resorts, like Greece and Spain. This evening, the sun seemed stranded between two of the tallest buildings of that part of Miami, and it gave just a little corridor of light. Magical.

As the Californians got Malibu and their BayWatch babies, Miami has also its famous lifeguards, and they are not less attractive! Here's a glimpse of their "little house on the...beach".

Me, Myself and Moi

New York have also it's magnificent sunsets, although you cannot see it on this picture, anyone would be jealous of such a tan, so you can guess of the sun's tint on my face. Humble is my middle name, and so is modesty, that's why I did not post a BIGGER picture of myself. :)

Another one, just because you seems very interested

...And this, but that will be the last, don't push your luck!
